Helmet Review - Chase Claypool and Dak Prescott

We’re breaking down the headgear on Chase Claypool and Dak Prescott this week. As always, you can watch us identify the helmet components here.

About Claypool

Chase Claypool is a Wide Receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was drafted by the team last year. His athletic career began with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2016, also as a Wide Receiver.

The gear. The details.

Claypool has been seen in a Riddell SpeedFlex Helmet this year. On his helmet, he’s wearing a black SF-2EG-SW Facemask, held on the helmet with clear SpeedFlex Facemask Hardware. Claypool has been wearing an Oakley Pro Visor with yellow visor tab decals, being attached with black, unbranded Oakley Visor Clips. The visor is in the color PRIZM Clear.

Claypool is also wearing a white Riddell Legacy Hard Cup Chinstrap with a black cam loc on the bottom and stainless steel chinstrap buckles on top.

Chase Claypool wears the number 11. He has #11 decals around the center strip on the front and back of his helmet. He has a few more decals on his helmet, which include a yellow Warning Label and a US Flag Decal.

The Steelers wear decal bumpers on the front and back of their helmets. As of last year, the NFL has allowed players to honor victims of police violence by wearing their names on back bumper decals. Some players opted to wear a rear decal bumper with approved phrases instead. “Stop Hate” is one of those phrases. Claypool has been seen wearing that on the back of his helmet this year.

About Prescott

Dak Prescott is a Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. He was first drafted into the NFL by the Cowboys in 2016. He started with the Bulldogs at Mississippi State University in 2011.

The gear. The details.

Prescott also wears a Riddell SpeedFlex, but with a grey SF-2BD-SW Facemask, no eyeguards. The valve cap screws on his helmet match the shell in silver. Prescott’s visor is a clear Oakley Pro with navy tab decals, attached to the facemask with unbranded Under Armour Visor Clips in grey.

He has a SportStar Victory T-Rex Hurricane Chinstrap, attached to his helmet with a black cam loc on the bottom, and a silver strap loc on top.

Prescott’s helmet has Cowboys front and back decal bumpers, along with a navy Warning Label and a US Flag Decal.
