Helmet Review - Mac Jones and Russell Wilson

This week, it’s Mac Jones vs Russell Wilson. Who has the better helmet? Let’s break them down and then let you be the judge.

About Jones

Mac Jones is a Quarterback for the New England Patriots and was drafted this year. He has been a part of the Alabama Crimson Tide as a Quarterback since 2017.

The gear. The details.

With the Patriots, Mac Jones has a silver Riddell SpeedFlex Helmet. His facemask is a scarlet SF-2BD-SW with clear facemask clips. The valve cap screws on his helmet are painted silver to match the shell.

He is wearing a regular unbranded Riddell Hard Cup Chinstrap that has cam locs on the bottom, but a buckle on top. Mac Jones has not been seen in a visor at all.

The Patriots wear 3D Bumpers on the front and the back of their helmets. Moving onto the back, Mac’s helmet has navy #10 decals on the center of the back of his helmet with a green NFL award decal above it. To the left is the US Flag and the right has a navy Warning Label as well as an NFL emblem decal.

About Wilson

He spent a majority of his college career at NC State, but finished out with the Wisconsin Badgers in 2011. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2012.

The gear. The details.

Russell Wilson is actually one of several NFL players who invested in Vicis helmets. He began investing in the company back in November 2017. We haven’t seen him in a Zero2 yet, but he’s stuck with the Zero1 again this year. On his Zero1, he’s wearing a navy SO-213-LP Facemask with clear hardware.

He upgraded his chinstrap to a SportStar Victory T-Rex Hurricane Chinstrap with stainless steel chinstrap buckles

The helmet has front and back Seahawks 3D bumpers made to fit the Vicis Zero1. From left to right on the back of the helmet, you can see a collection of decals. First is a White Warning Label, an NFL Emblem Decal, a Green NFL Award Deal on the center, and a US Flag Decal to the right.

Who has the better gear? Are you a fan of Vicis helmets or would you stick with the tried and true SpeedFlex?
