The Washington Football Team To Rebrand

The Washington Football Team is finally updating their generic name. They began to use the name in September as a placeholder while the team worked to rebrand. As this season starts to wrap up, the Washington Football Team is ready with their new identity.

The Washington Football Team only recently rescinded the Redskins team mascot after large sponsors such as Nike and FedEx forced their hand by threatening to pull their sponsorships. These companies were inspired by the tragedy of George Floyd, whose death riled protests against discrimination in the US. The team's large sponsors are not the first to argue for change. This has been an ongoing petition to change by several Native American groups and activists, going back to the 1970s. The threat of losing funding from large companies, however, was the catalyst to urge the football team’s name change.

The team has shared a few sneak previews of their new uniforms for next season by showing super close-up photos of the new helmets and jerseys.

These photos don't give much of a hint, but are getting people curious. Team President Jason Wright says that the organization is "confident that the new name is an identity fans can rally behind for another 90 years and more"
