A Tribute to Kobe Bryant

On January 26, 2020 Lakers basketball player, Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash along with his daughter, Gianna. They were accompanied by a few teammates, coaches, and a small crew, travelling to a youth basketball game in Orange County. We are approaching the anniversary of the Bryants’ deaths and we wanted to take this time to recognize these amazing people once again.

After hearing the news of Kobe’s death, Steve created a customized, tribute helmet on our YouTube channel. This helmet stood to show our respect and dedication to the loss of a legendary athlete. This Schutt F7 VTD helmet includes a black TPU liner and is dressed with a Furman Purple F7-ROPO-SW-NB facemask, a custom Shoc 1.0 visor in Chrome Mirror, and personalized decals. The video is attached below for your reference.

The helmet that we selected was a Green Bay Gold Schutt F7 VTD helmet, the yellow coordinating with The Lakers team colors. The helmet was decorated with several, custom-made decals for Kobe, starting with Kobe Bryant front and back bumper decals. We also included a tribute to his daughter, Gianna, by adding a Gigi 2020 round sticker on the center back of the helmet.

Our white, unbranded Under Armor visor clips received Black Mamba logo decals in purple, matching the Furman Purple facemask.

Kobe wore and retired two numbers during his career, so we placed the number 8 to recognize Kobe’s early career and the number 24 to show his growth.

This Schutt helmet has a black TPU liner. We decided to include more black details to tie in the interior. We used a black, unbranded SportStar hard cup chinstrap and more black Schutt facemask hardware. The custom visor was done by our friend, The Helmet Giant. It is a Shoc 1.0 Chrome Mirror visor that sports the black mamba logo and an NBA logo featuring Kobe on the opposite side.

This helmet is a proud creation of ours that we were happy to make in tribute to the highly-adored, basketball superstar. He has earned our respect because of his incredible career and his strong character. Our deepest sympathies continue to go out to Vannessa Bryant and his three daughters as well as the families affected by the accident. RIP Kobe Bryant.
